Top 5 Songs - Week of January 8th

I don't really make playlists but I wanted to share the songs that have been on repeat this week. Mostly R&B vibes, each one hitting different. Give them a listen or go support the artists.

1. Rain Down - Daniel Caesar

This song is absolute bliss. It combines Daniel's style with a bit of gospel. Kind of how Kanye grew up in a church - in his music you can feel the oozing of church hymns and choir come from his songs. I grew up around a lot of church as well which is why I resonate with this song so well.

2. Hillside - Gabriel Jacoby

This song is like a thought of wonder and emotion. I want to express my emotion to you but the wonder of knowing I can't say anything that I just want to run from the hillside. It captures that feeling perfectly.

3. Treasure in the Hills - Leon Thomas

I think a lot of people sleep on this album since it was before MUTT came out but this song talks about how Leon found treasure in the hills. It's showing so much emotion about finding the treasure. It's like that hope to find the treasure that you've been digging and digging so long for.

4. Drifting - Khamari

The song talks about how he needs dopamine because he feels something coming over him, the feeling of dark times. He just needs one more shot of dopamine and he'll be fine for the time. It's that temporary fix vibe that hits different.

5. A Couple Minutes - Olivia Dean

I have no words for this song other than this song is just hard. Her voice, the lyrics, the production - it's all just so smooth and easy on the ears. She's definitely made her mark with this song that's for sure.

That's it for this week. Let me know if any of these resonate with you or if you have recommendations for next week's list.
